Gypsy Dreamin’

(I collected this image from photobucket - there were many copies of it from various accounts, so I really don’t know who is the original owner of the photo).

I forgot to mention one thing that the boys could get me for my birthday.  I have been eyeballing a collection of Stevie Nicks lifetime of work - a box-set titled Enchanted.  Something about her work is so mystical.  I have to only assume that there is a bit of Romany gypsy in me since I seem to be so enthralled with all things gypsy.  I was nomadic as a child, my father being in the military.  We moved around frequently.  I tend to have wanderlust sometimes, but love being near family.  I am rather mixed in culture, finding French, English and perhaps some Native American ancestry.  It’s hard to tell because nobody before me ever did any genealogy research on our family.  I have hit several dead ends.  So, who knows?  I could be a little bit gypsy.

I don’t know for sure what got me on my vardo - gypsy wagon - kick again, but maybe it was Stevie reminding me with her echos of mystery and enchantment ringing through my automobile speakers by chance.

Maybe I’m asking a lot these days, what will visions of roller-skates and stripey socks all dancing through my head.  But I think a vardo could be quite useful for a house full of artsists and writers.  It’s a great place to create.  At least I *think* it would be.  Since I don’t have one, I can’t say for sure, but I have a pretty good sense that it would be TOTALLY AWESOME!

I keep thinking of all the useful applications of such a little hidy place.  It could be used for reading books, writing books and poems.  It could be used as a place to just cuddle and dream with somebody you love or even as a guest cottage of sorts.  I imagine a lovely little fairy party like we used to have, with lanters hanging off of the vardo and guests all taking turns lounging and chatting in the little nook.  It would be a great place to sneak off to for some romance or private talks.

I envision yards of velvet, satin and sari fabric pillows and drapes.  It would be something akin to being in Jeannie’s bottle!

A girl can dream can’t she!

    Shameless vardolatry!
If your vardo looks like Jeannie’s bottle, I’ll still need that treehouse to write in! ;-)

  3. Goddess says:

Won’t we have to have a tree before we can have a treehouse?

Ok - build away! Finish your shed first dood! But if you are busy building a treeless treehouse then I guess the vardo will have to wait much much much longer. Sigh. :) HAHA!
