The Dog Days of Summer

The pooches are out back barking their fool heads off at the neighbor's pack of min-pins. Who also are barking their fool heads off.
My studio is nearly clean and organized if you can believe that. I can't believe it myself. I hope to have it all done by tonight and then begin my quest of organized art creating.
I've had two projects I've struggled with that friends have assigned me. One is a tattoo. I've been working on it on and off for months, but to be honest I'm not sure I have the talent to pull of the design that she wants - it's sort of complicated and tattoos are a different breed. I've been working on it, but I am not happy with the results. Sometimes I'm a bit hard on myself that way, but it's better than doing something half-asses I'd say.
The other is a sort of logo for a club. I've got a number of sketches and I like how they are turning out - but for instance, the messiness of the studio added to the difficulty of that project - because I'd finish a sketch and be unable to find it later and the sketches weren't in the same spot - that sort of thing. I know that my thoughts are chaotic much of the time, but my environment needs to be neat if I am to have more momentum. I already am gaining momentum business-wise - but to keep up with filing and businessy stuff along with the artsy stuff and give people what they want in a good customer-service sort of way, I really need to be sure I have everything where I can find it easily.
I finished the graphics for the new www.heatherbartlettart.com website - I'm happy with the way it turned out. I used an open-source template and modified the graphics to customize it. I still have to edit it via Dreamweaver, but just the art site itself, not the store. Also the blog attached to it will be Wordpress and the store will be Zen Cart and there will be gallery pages from a pre-made gallery software. So I'm using several sources to make my site and that may sound complicated and clunky, but it should actually make maintaining the site easier than in the past and therefore quicker and would make updates lots easier. In the end using these various things I will link to actually makes designing a LOT easier than it has been in the past for us. E-commerce is a huge hurdle to overcome, but I think we're okay on this one.
I've not been feeling great the past few days, but I feel a good bit better today. I missed the diversity group's meeting last night that I wanted to go to because I just did not feel well.
I managed to get my blood drawn on time on Monday - so just waiting on results at this point. Then I'll have to go back for another ultrasound.
On the art front - I'm working on stationary sets. Sometimes materials/packaging is the hardest part of a project like that. I like to be picky about my packaging and stuff. Once I figure out the best way to make them/package them they will be available on my site and also at New Moon (see my last blog).
Have a wonderful day!
